Wild Turkey Longbranch is a small batch Kentucky straight bourbon born from one of the most talked about collaborations in modern whiskey, between Wild Turkey Master Distiller Eddie Russell and the brand's creative director, actor Matthew McConaughey. Created in 2016, it brings together McConaughey's twin Kentucky and Texas roots in a single bottle. The name Longbranch refers to an extended hand, an invitation for a friend to become family, and that idea of connection runs through the whiskey itself. It begins as classic eight year old Wild Turkey bourbon, built on the distillery's signature mashbill of 75 percent corn, 13 percent rye, and 12 percent malted barley and aged in new charred American oak. What sets it apart is a distinctive two step charcoal refining process after maturation: the bourbon is filtered first through American white oak charcoal, then a second time through Texas mesquite charcoal, gently softening the spirit and adding a subtle layer of smoky sweetness. Because this filtering happens after the barrel, it remains a genuine straight bourbon. Bottled at an approachable 86 proof, it is smooth, mellow, and easy to enjoy. Expect a golden pour with a balanced nose of vanilla, caramel, pecan, and gentle spice touched by light smoke, a soft palate of vanilla, sweet corn, toffee, pear, and citrus, and a buttery smooth, lightly smoky finish with toasted oak and gentle pepper. Refined, approachable, and distinctive, Longbranch is a wonderful sipping bourbon and a smooth introduction to the Wild Turkey family. Enjoy it neat, over a large cube, or in an elevated cocktail.
