John Walker and Sons Odyssey is one of the most extraordinary and now discontinued expressions ever released under the Johnnie Walker umbrella, a rare triple malt blended malt Scotch whisky that brought together aged single malt whiskies from three of Scotland's most revered distilleries: Cardhu, Clynelish, and Royal Lochnagar. Assembled by Diageo's master blending team from exceptionally old and rare casks, Odyssey was released in extremely limited quantities as part of the prestige John Walker and Sons collection, designed to sit at the pinnacle of Johnnie Walker's offering and well above the Blue Label tier. The geometric crystal decanter is an elegant and sculptural piece, presented in a dramatic black presentation box with a circular embossed silver capsule interior. Odyssey has been discontinued for several years and surviving bottles have become genuinely sought after by serious Johnnie Walker and Scotch whisky collectors. This is one of the rarest expressions to have carried the John Walker and Sons name.

Tasting Notes
Color: Rich warm amber with golden honey tones
Nose: Elegant and complex, with the waxy coastal character of Clynelish underpinning layers of sweet malt from Cardhu and a delicate Royal Lochnagar fruitiness. Vanilla, dried stone fruits, toasted oak, and a light Highland smokiness weave together with remarkable harmony.
Palate: Silky and layered, with honey, beeswax, ripe orchard fruit, caramel, and a gentle coastal salinity from Clynelish that gives the blend a depth and complexity far beyond what its ABV might suggest. The three malt characters are individually recognizable and yet completely integrated.
Finish: Long and graceful, with lingering beeswax, dried fruit, vanilla oak, and a final whisper of coastal smoke that makes a compelling case for why this expression earned its place at the very top of the John Walker and Sons range.
FAQ
What is a triple malt whisky?
A triple malt is a blended malt Scotch whisky assembled from single malt whiskies from exactly three distilleries, with no grain whisky included. Odyssey brings together Cardhu, the spiritual home of Johnnie Walker, alongside the distinctively waxy Clynelish from the Northern Highlands and the elegant Royal Lochnagar from Deeside, creating a combination that is both historically significant and exceptionally rare.
How does Odyssey compare to Johnnie Walker Blue Label?
Blue Label is a blended Scotch whisky that includes both malt and grain whiskies. Odyssey is a blended malt, containing only single malt whiskies from three specific distilleries, with no grain whisky. It was positioned above Blue Label in the John Walker and Sons prestige tier and is now considerably rarer as a discontinued expression.
Why was Odyssey discontinued?
The John Walker and Sons collection was rationalised over time by Diageo, with some expressions discontinued as stock was depleted. Odyssey is no longer in production and surviving bottles represent the entirety of the remaining supply worldwide.
Is the full presentation box included?
Yes. The bottle is presented in its original black presentation box with the circular embossed silver interior capsule as shown.
