1800 Milenio is the extra añejo flagship and ultra premium pinnacle of the 1800 Tequila portfolio from Casa Cuervo, originally released in 2000 to celebrate the new millennium, which gives the expression its name. Produced at the historic La Rojeña Distillery (NOM 1122) in Tequila, Jalisco, owned and operated by the Beckmann family at one of the oldest active distilleries in Latin America, Milenio starts with 100% Blue Weber agave handpicked at peak maturity from the nutrient rich volcanic soils of the Jalisco highlands. The expression is aged for several years in new American oak barrels, then the very best tequila of each batch is hand selected by the master tequileros and transferred for an additional maturation in French oak ex Cognac barrels. This dual aging process, inspired by the finishing traditions of fine Cognac, layers warm Cognac fruit and spice character onto an already richly aged extra añejo base. Presented in a faceted ceramic decanter inside an elegant hand crafted display box, Milenio is released only in limited batches and earned Best of Class honors at the International Women's Wine and Spirit Competition and the 2025 LA Spirits Awards.

What makes 1800 Milenio special? Three things set Milenio apart: its extra añejo aging in new American oak (3+ years minimum, with reports of 5 year aging on original releases), the secondary finishing in French oak ex Cognac barrels (uncommon in tequila), and the fact that only the master tequileros' hand selected best of each batch makes it into the bottle. The result is a tequila that drinks like a cross between aged tequila and fine Cognac.
How does this compare to other 1800 expressions? Milenio sits at the top of the 1800 lineup. Compare against the 1800 Cristalino Añejo, which is also aged and Port cask finished but charcoal filtered to clear, or the 1800 Coconut at the everyday end of the range. Milenio is the sipping bottle of the family, built for neat pours and special occasions.
How rare is 1800 Milenio? Released only in limited batches. It was originally introduced in 2000 as a one time millennium celebration before being relaunched as a permanent ultra premium expression. Production remains tightly controlled and the elaborate display packaging makes it one of the most gift forward extra añejos in the category.
