Every year, Lux Row Master Distiller John Rempe makes a Blood Oath — a promise to craft the finest possible blend of Kentucky straight bourbon, and to be the only person who knows exactly where each whiskey comes from. Pact No. 7, released in 2021, is the seventh chapter in that story. For this installment, Rempe selected three rye-recipe bourbons: a 14-year-old that anchors the blend with deep oak and age, an 8-year-old that brings balance and spice, and a third 8-year-old that was finished in Sauternes wine casks from the Bordeaux region of France — a rare and inspired choice that sets Pact No. 7 apart from any standard bourbon on the shelf.

Sauternes is one of the most prized sweet white wines in the world, produced from grapes affected by noble rot in a small appellation within Bordeaux. The casks left behind carry concentrated stone fruit, honey, and floral sweetness — and when ryed bourbon rests in them, the result is a beautifully layered spirit where classic caramel and oak are lifted by apricot, peach, and honeyed fruit notes. Bottled at 98.6 proof (49.3% ABV), Pact No. 7 has the backbone to carry that complexity without losing its identity as a serious Kentucky bourbon.
