Lagavulin Offerman Edition is the first release in Lagavulin's celebrated collaboration with actor and comedian Nick Offerman, launched in October 2019. Offerman, famously a fan of Lagavulin through his Parks and Recreation character Ron Swanson and well beyond, worked directly with then Lagavulin Distillery Manager Colin Gordon to select the liquid and helped design the bottle, which bears his portrait and signature. Aged 11 years in a mix of first fill and recharred refill bourbon casks, this is one of the youngest core Lagavulin expressions ever released and a profile cousin to the legendary Lagavulin 16. Bottled at 92 proof, with no chill filtration noted on US releases. The 1st Edition has been replaced by subsequent Offerman releases (Guinness, Caribbean Rum, Charred Oak) and is increasingly difficult to find at retail.

How is the Offerman 11 different from Lagavulin 16? The cask makeup is similar, a mix of first fill and recharred refill bourbon casks, which makes the Offerman 11 a younger profile cousin to the classic Lagavulin 16. The 11 is bottled at 46% ABV versus 43% for the 16, giving it a touch more weight, while the extra five years on the 16 deliver greater complexity, sherry character (in some batches), and softer integration. Many drinkers describe the Offerman 1st Edition as Lagavulin 16 with more proof and less age.
What's Nick Offerman's connection to Lagavulin? Offerman has been a vocal fan of Lagavulin for years, both personally and through his Parks and Recreation character Ron Swanson. He has appeared in numerous Lagavulin advertising campaigns, including the famous My Tales of Whisky series and the "Yule Log" ad. The Offerman Edition was the natural extension of that long running relationship.
How rare is the 1st Edition? The Offerman 1st Edition was released in October 2019 with limited allocation and is no longer in production, having been succeeded by the Guinness Cask Finish, Caribbean Rum Cask, and Charred Oak editions. Bottles still on retail shelves are existing inventory and increasingly hard to find at original retail prices.
