I have tried this whisky a few times over the last couple of years in bar/restaurants. It is supposedly a collaboration between a music guy and a tequila guy. They allegedly blended up a mix from some 2, 3, and 4 year old barrels they had purchased. Why they would think they know more that an actual bourbon distiller I don’t know, but that is the mystique of the product. It originally cost around $50 a bottle and it was not worth that. It is actually not a bad drinker. It has a young profile which I would expect from the hype. It has a harsh nose with some interesting notes. The flavor profile is sweet as you would expect from a young bourbon and has a little bite to it which makes me think the mash bill was fairly high rye and no wheat. I usually drink whisky neat, but this strong profile will stand up to ice. I don’t think there has been a second bottling, and a lot of the vendors who still have this on the shelves are dumping them. I bought this here for $24 and at that price this is a great deal. I would buy it all day long at that price. I truly bought this for the bottle. It looks like a big perfume bottle. When it is empty, I will probably fill it with something else. But the whisky is OK. Very drinkable.
Vendor performed well and as expected. Bottles arrived undamaged. Communication could have been better initially. Once the package actually shipped, communication was good.
Package was perfect, you could have shipped this thing through the depths of hell and it come out perfect.. however the purple and gold is not at all like the picture. It's not even the purple and yellow like they made years ago. It's purple and almost an orange. I'm sure it's going to taste great when it's cracked open.
