Corralejo Extra Anejo is the oldest expression in the core Corralejo range, a 100 percent blue Weber agave tequila aged a full 36 months to reach the extra anejo classification, the most refined and longest aged category in tequila. It is made at the historic Hacienda Corralejo in Penjamo, in the state of Guanajuato, one of the few regions outside Jalisco officially permitted to produce tequila and the birthplace of Miguel Hidalgo, a central figure in Mexican independence. The hacienda dates to the 18th century and remains notable for blowing its own glass and applying labels by hand. What sets Corralejo apart is its distillation: the brand uses the Charentais double distillation method in copper pot stills, the same approach perfected in French Cognac production, which yields a clean, aromatic and refined base spirit for long aging. The agave is estate grown and hand harvested, double distilled, then matured for three years in small oak barrels, building deep, integrated wood character and roasted, oak forward complexity. The result pours a rich, deep gold and carries a profile that balances sweet and spice. Expect oak, gentle smoke and bright citrus on the palate, layered with caramel, vanilla and agave sweetness, finishing long, warm and full bodied.
