Chivas Regal 18 Year Old Gold Signature is the expression that turned blended Scotch into a luxury category. Originally introduced in the 1980s as the first 18-year-old blended Scotch whisky ever created, it was the work of Master Blender Colin Scott — who spent over 30 years building the Chivas legacy — and it drew directly from the brand's foundational heritage at Strathisla, Scotland's oldest continuously operating distillery and the beating heart of the Chivas Regal house style. Strathisla's warm, rich, and honeyed character anchors every bottle of Chivas 18.
The Gold Signature blend includes over 20 of Scotland's finest single malts and grain whiskies, every one of them aged for a minimum of 18 years before Colin Scott assembles them into the final blend. The result has been described by Wine Enthusiast as one of the finest blended Scotches in the world, earning a near-perfect 96-100 point score and the IWSC 2014 Trophy. With 85 distinct flavor notes said to be present in every drop, Chivas 18 rewards the kind of unhurried drinking that an 18-year-old whisky deserves — neat, with a splash of water, or over a single large cube.

Color: Intense dark amber — rich and inviting
Nose: Multi-layered and indulgent — dried fruits, buttery toffee, dark chocolate, orange peel, vanilla fudge and a touch of spice build slowly and generously
Palate: Velvety and luxurious — dark chocolate accentuated by elegant floral tones, marmalade, creamy caramel, spiced orange and a mild, sweet smokiness from the Islay malts in the blend
Finish: Long, warm and balanced — honey, oak and bittersweet chocolate linger with the kind of complexity that only 18 years of patience can produce
What is Strathisla and why is it significant to Chivas?
Strathisla is Scotland's oldest continuously operating distillery, founded in 1786 in the town of Keith in Speyside. It produces a rich, fruity, and honeyed single malt that forms the heart of every Chivas Regal blend. A visit to Strathisla is also the official home of Chivas Regal — its twin copper pot stills and stone-built distillery are synonymous with the Chivas house style that Chivas 18 represents at its most fully realized.
How does Chivas 18 compare to Chivas 12?
Chivas 12 is aged for a minimum of 12 years and offers a lighter, more accessible profile with honey, hazelnut, and vanilla. Chivas 18 requires every whisky in the blend to be aged at least 18 years — a significantly more demanding standard — resulting in noticeably greater depth, richness, complexity, and length. The dark chocolate, dried fruit, and subtle smokiness of the 18 Year are flavors that simply aren't present in the 12.
