Buchanan's Red Seal is the range topping ultra premium expression in the celebrated Buchanan's family of blended Scotch whiskies and one of the most prestigious blended scotches on the market today. The recipe is inspired by the original blend that James Buchanan crafted and supplied to the British Royal Family more than a century ago, the Victorian "House of Commons" blend that earned Buchanan's its royal warrant and built the brand's reputation as a defining name in Scotch whisky. The modern Red Seal carries forward that heritage: a meticulous marriage of mature Scottish single malt whiskies, including signature Dalwhinnie Highland malt along with other Highland and Islay malts, integrated with refined grain whiskies, all aged a minimum of 21 years in carefully selected oak casks. Only the most exceptional out of series barrels are reserved for the Red Seal blend. The result is a deeply layered, silky, supremely balanced blend with rich dried fruit, dark chocolate, sherry sweetness, toasted oak, and a long elegant finish that demonstrates how exceptional aged blended scotch can be at the very top tier. Bottled at 40% ABV in a distinctive embossed decanter style bottle, presented in a deep navy gift box sealed with an authentic red wax seal. Awarded Gold Medal at the 2021 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. A serious sipping whisky and an extraordinary gift for the connoisseur of aged Scotch.

FAQ
What is Buchanan's Red Seal? Red Seal is the range topping ultra premium expression in the Buchanan's lineup, sitting well above the brand's core offerings like the Deluxe 12, Master, Special Reserve 18, and Two Souls 18. It is a 21 year minimum aged blended Scotch inspired by the original James Buchanan "House of Commons" blend supplied to the British Royal Family in the late 1800s, the blend that built Buchanan's reputation and earned its royal warrant.
What is in the blend? Red Seal is built around signature Dalwhinnie Highland single malt as a key component, blended with other carefully selected Scottish Highland and Islay single malts and refined grain whiskies, all aged a minimum of 21 years. Only the most exceptional out of series casks are reserved for the Red Seal blend, producing significantly greater depth and complexity than the standard core range.
Who was James Buchanan? James Buchanan (1849 to 1935) was a Scottish whisky merchant born in Ontario, Canada to Scottish immigrants. He founded James Buchanan & Company in London in 1884 and was a pioneer of blended Scotch whisky in the English market. His original "House of Commons" blend was so well received that it was adopted as the official whisky of the British House of Commons and supplied to the British Royal Family. He was later created Baron Woolavington for his contributions to British industry and philanthropy.
How is this different from other Buchanan's expressions? The Buchanan's range starts with Deluxe 12 (the global flagship), then Master (no age statement), then Special Reserve 18 and Two Souls 18 at the premium aged tier, with Red Seal at the very top. Red Seal carries the highest age statement (21 years minimum), the most exclusive cask selection, the most distinguished presentation (wax sealed gift box), and the deepest, most complex flavor profile in the entire Buchanan's lineup.
How should I drink it? Best enjoyed neat in a tulip glass to fully appreciate the layered complexity built over 21 years, or with a single drop of water or a single large ice cube to open the aromatics. This is a contemplative sipping whisky for special occasions, after dinner pairings with dark chocolate or a fine cigar, and a serious gift centerpiece. Not a mixing whisky.
