W.L. Weller Single Barrel is the expression that lets one exceptional barrel speak entirely for itself. William Larue Weller, born in 1825, spent most of his life educating the public on his first of its kind bourbon recipe that used wheat in the mash bill in place of rye, and that gentle, mild and smooth sipping experience changed whiskey as we know it. Today the Weller line is distilled and bottled at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, sharing its wheated mashbill and warehouses with the celebrated Pappy Van Winkle bottlings. Single Barrel is handpicked and bottled one barrel at a time, delivering nuanced variations from the aging process so that no two barrels are quite the same. It is bottled at a consistent 97 proof, so the strength stays the same while the character shifts from barrel to barrel, and every bottle represents a finite pour from one cask. Expect distinct, full bodied flavor in the celebrated tradition of Weller's wheated bourbon. The nose opens with cherry and mint before fading into soft vanilla. On the palate, caramel and baking spices explode with hints of cocoa, carried by the rounded sweetness that only a wheated recipe delivers. The finish brings cinnamon, coffee and a gentle lift of pepper. It is a bourbon to be savored, best enjoyed neat or with a single large cube so the barrel's individual character comes through clearly. As the hand selected member of the core Weller family, sitting alongside Special Reserve, Antique 107, Full Proof and the 12 Year, Single Barrel is among the hardest of them to find on a shelf, and once a barrel is gone it is gone for good.

No. Each bottling comes from one individual barrel, so the flavor varies between barrels even though the proof stays fixed.
It uses wheat rather than rye as the secondary grain alongside corn, producing a softer, rounder and sweeter profile.
Special Reserve is the 90 proof entry, Antique 107 adds heat, Full Proof is bottled at barrel entry strength and the 12 Year adds age. Single Barrel sits at 97 proof and showcases the character of one cask.
Neat or with a single large cube is best, so the individual barrel's character comes through.
