Old Forester 1910 Old Fine Whisky is the fourth expression in the Old Forester Whiskey Row Series, commemorating a happy accident from 1910 that led to one of the most distinctive double oaked bourbons in the modern Brown-Forman lineup. On a typical day at the original Old Forester operation at 117 West Main Street on Louisville's famed Whiskey Row, owner Owsley Brown faced a sudden bottling line breakdown that left a fully matured batch of Old Forester with nowhere to go. Rather than risk losing the bourbon's character, Brown ordered the fully aged whiskey re barreled into a second freshly charred new oak barrel, where it rested until the bottling line could be repaired. The resulting double barreled bourbon proved so exceptional that Brown set it aside as his personal stock and labeled it Old Fine Whisky. Crafted using Brown's exact double barreling process, the modern 1910 release is bottled at 93 proof to honor that personal stock and is built on the standard Old Forester mash bill of 72 percent corn, 18 percent rye, and 10 percent malted barley. The result is a richly textured bourbon with deep caramel, candied fruit, and pronounced toasted oak character that sets it apart from any other expression in the Whiskey Row Series.

What does double barreled mean? 1910 Old Fine Whisky is fully matured in one new charred American oak barrel, then transferred into a second freshly charred new oak barrel for additional finishing. The second barrel pulls forward concentrated caramel, vanilla, and toasted oak character that single barrel maturation does not deliver.
What is the story behind 1910? In 1910, a bottling line failure at Old Forester left a fully matured batch with nowhere to go. Owsley Brown re barreled the whiskey into freshly charred new oak to preserve its quality, and the resulting double oaked bourbon was so exceptional that he labeled it Old Fine Whisky and kept it as his personal stock.
How does 1910 fit in the Whiskey Row Series? The series includes 1870 Original Batch, 1897 Bottled in Bond, 1910 Old Fine Whisky, the higher proof 1920 Prohibition Style, and the more recent 1924 ten year release. 1910 sits as the dessert leaning, double barreled middle of the series.
