Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Rye is the single barrel expression of the distillery's celebrated Tennessee rye, part of the acclaimed Single Barrel Collection from the legendary Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee. When Jack Daniel's introduced its rye, it marked the first new grain bill at the distillery in roughly a century, built on a bold recipe of 70 percent rye, 18 percent corn, and 12 percent malted barley, made with the same iconic cave spring water from the Jack Daniel's Hollow and the same proprietary yeast behind the 150 year old Tennessee whiskey. Like all of Jack's single barrels, the whiskey is drawn one barrel at a time from the upper floors of the barrelhouse, the prized angel's roost, where the greatest temperature swings drive a deeper interaction between spirit and wood, and then charcoal mellowed drop by drop through ten feet of sugar maple charcoal in the signature Lincoln County Process. Because each bottle comes from an individual barrel, no two are exactly alike, and the neck band records the specific barrel number, rack location, and bottling date. Bottled at a consistent 94 proof, it leads with a lightly sweet, clean tone that opens into dried fruit, trail mix, caramel, vanilla, and a peppery rye spice, with the rye grain shining through over a slightly shorter, grain forward finish. More about grain character than heavy barrel influence, it is a versatile, balanced rye that drinks beautifully neat and elevates a Manhattan or Old Fashioned. A rewarding pour for the rye lover and the dedicated Jack fan alike.

What is the mashbill? It uses Jack Daniel's rye recipe of 70 percent rye, 18 percent corn, and 12 percent malted barley, the brand's first new grain bill in around a century.
What proof is it? It is bottled at a consistent 94 proof, or 47 percent ABV. As a single barrel, the flavor varies slightly from barrel to barrel.
How is it different from the Barrel Proof Rye? This Single Barrel Rye is bottled at a steady 94 proof, while the separate Single Barrel Barrel Proof Rye is bottled uncut at barrel strength, generally between roughly 125 and 145 proof.
Is it a bourbon? No. It is a rye whiskey, made with a high rye mashbill, though like all Jack Daniel's it is charcoal mellowed via the Lincoln County Process and labeled Tennessee Rye Whiskey.
What is on the neck band? The neck band records the individual barrel number, rack location, and bottling date for that specific bottle.
