1800 Coconut is the original coconut infused tequila, launched in 2012 by 1800 Tequila as the very first expression of its kind on the market. Produced at the historic La Rojeña Distillery (NOM 1122) in the town of Tequila, Jalisco, by Casa Cuervo, one of the oldest and largest tequila producers in Mexico, this expression starts with 1800 Silver Tequila made from 100% blue Weber agave harvested and handpicked from family owned ranches in Jalisco's western highlands and lowlands. The agave is steamed in handbuilt brick stone ovens following the proceso tradicional method and double distilled in copper pot stills. After distillation, the silver tequila is infused with natural ripe coconut flavor, resulting in a crystal clear spirit that keeps the underlying agave character bright and herbaceous rather than masking it with sweetness. Bottled at 35% ABV in the brand's signature triangular bottle inspired by Mayan pyramids, 1800 Coconut won the Master Award for Flavored Tequila at the 2024 Tequila and Mezcal Masters competition.

Color: Crystal clear with soft blond highlights.
Nose: Bright blue agave with green herbaceous and slightly peppery notes giving way to toasted coconut and a soft tropical sweetness.
Palate: Smooth and medium bodied, with sweet agave and coconut arriving together up front, expanding into a silky, almost creamy mid palate while underlying vegetal and citrus notes keep the sweetness in check.
Finish: Moderately long with lingering sweet coconut and a clean agave dryness.
How does 1800 Coconut compare to Malibu Rum? Both are coconut flavored spirits, but 1800 Coconut is built on a 100% blue agave silver tequila base at 35% ABV, giving it more body and agave character than Malibu's lighter, lower proof (21% ABV) Caribbean rum foundation. Drinkers who find Malibu one dimensional often prefer the herbal complexity that the tequila base contributes here.
Is 1800 Coconut good for cocktails? It's purpose built for mixing. The coconut infusion means you can substitute it directly for plain silver tequila in tropical cocktails without needing a separate coconut liqueur, which simplifies recipes and keeps the agave profile front and center. A Coconut Margarita is the obvious call, but it also shines in Palomas, Pineapple Tequila Highballs, and frozen drinks.
