Absolut 100, also known as L.O. Smith's Overproof, is the bold high proof expression of Sweden's iconic vodka, bottled at exactly 100 proof for added intensity and structure. Launched in 2007 and named after the brand's strength, the recipe is made exclusively from Swedish winter wheat grown in the rich fields around Åhus, the same southern Swedish village where founder Lars Olsson Smith was born and where every drop of Absolut has been produced since 1879. No added sugar, continuous distillation pioneered by L.O. Smith himself, and the unmistakable matte black bottle that signals this isn't ordinary Absolut. The signature serve is the Absolut Pure Black: 100 with tonic and a lime wedge.

Color: Crystal clear.
Nose: Clean grain, fresh wheat, soft bread dough, and a hint of white pepper.
Palate: Full bodied and crisp, with rich wheat character, light sweetness, sweet citrus oil, and firm structure from the higher proof.
Finish: Long, warming, and smooth, with refined alcohol presence and a fresh velvety close.
How is Absolut 100 different from regular Absolut? Absolut 100 is bottled at 50% ABV / 100 proof versus standard Absolut at 40% ABV / 80 proof. The higher proof intensifies the wheat character and gives more structure for cocktails, while the iconic matte black bottle replaces the clear glass of the original. Same Åhus, Sweden production, same winter wheat base, same continuous distillation.
Who was L.O. Smith? Lars Olsson Smith (1836-1913) was a Swedish entrepreneur known as the "Vodka King." In 1879 he introduced continuous distillation, producing what he called "Absolut Rent Brannvin" (Absolutely Pure Vodka). The Absolut brand we know today was launched in 1979, exactly 100 years later, and Absolut 100 carries his name on the label as a tribute to its origins.
What's the best way to drink it? The signature serve is the Absolut Pure Black: 100 over ice with tonic water and a lime wedge. It also makes an exceptional martini, espresso martini, vodka soda, or Negroni base, where the higher proof gives backbone without harshness.
