Wyoming Whiskey National Parks No. 4 is the fourth annual collectible release in Wyoming Whiskey's National Parks series, launched in September 2024 to celebrate Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone National Park. Distilled, barreled, and bottled at the Wyoming Whiskey distillery in Kirby, Wyoming, this small batch wheated straight bourbon is built from a mash bill of 68% corn, 20% wheat, and 12% malted barley, with all grains grown locally and non GMO. The whiskey is a blend of more than 70 hand selected barrels aged for a minimum of 5 years in new charred American oak under the extreme temperature swings of the Big Horn Basin, then proofed using water from a 6,000 year old limestone aquifer. Bottled at 98 proof and presented in a label inspired by photographer F. Jay Haynes, who served as the official photographer of Yellowstone from 1881 until his death, this release supported Yellowstone Forever as part of Wyoming Whiskey's $150,000 donation to preserve America's first national park.

How does National Parks No. 4 differ from earlier releases in the series? No. 4 sits at 98 proof, 7 points lower than the 105 proof National Parks No. 2 Yellowstone 150th Anniversary release, giving it a softer, more approachable profile that leans heavily on dessert sweet notes. The mash bill is identical, but the 70 plus barrel blend was specifically picked to highlight crème caramel, candied ginger, and honeysuckle.
Why does the label depict Mammoth Hot Springs? Mammoth Hot Springs is one of Yellowstone's most distinctive features, an ever changing system of travertine terraces shaped over thousands of years by hot mineral water. The label artwork is inspired by photographer F. Jay Haynes, whose iconic late 19th and early 20th century images of Yellowstone helped raise national awareness of the park.
Is this a wheated bourbon? Yes. With 20% wheat as the secondary grain instead of rye, Wyoming Whiskey leans softer, sweeter, and rounder than typical high rye Kentucky bourbons. Note that some early reviews mistakenly listed rye in the mash bill; the official mash bill is 68% corn, 20% wheat, 12% malted barley.
