The Port Dundas Distillery stood on a hill overlooking Glasgow from 1810 until 2010, operating for exactly two centuries before closing its doors forever. During that time it produced single grain Scotch whisky of remarkable character — sweeter and lighter than Highlands single malts, with the floral, fruit-forward quality typical of the Scottish Lowlands. When Diageo's Orphan Barrel Whiskey Co. discovered rare remaining casks from Port Dundas, they did what they always do: bottle them honestly, at the age and proof they deserved, with the distillery name and story on the label. The result was the Muckety-Muck series — named, with appropriate irreverence, for the pompous self-important figures that populate the Victoriana artwork on every bottle.

Muckety-Muck 26 Year Old is the third release in the series, following the 24 and 25 year editions. It draws from some of the last and oldest remaining Port Dundas stock and represents a whisky that simply cannot be made again — the distillery is closed, the casks are finite, and once this release is gone it is gone. Distilled from 100% malted barley and aged 26 years, bottled at 92 proof. The result is a quintessential Lowland single grain: elegant, sweet, and deeply satisfying in its simplicity, with caramel, baked sugar, butterscotch vanilla, poached pear, and light toasted oak building through a long and quietly impressive finish.
