Jack Daniel's Holiday Select 2011 is a genuine collector's piece and the debut release in Jack Daniel's beloved Holiday Select series. Unveiled at the distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee on December 3, 2011, this limited edition holds a special place in Jack Daniel's lore: the whiskey was drawn from the very barrels used to build the first ever Holiday Barrel Tree, a towering display of barrels erected near the town square to celebrate the season. Only 187 barrels of 100 proof whiskey were used for this limited run, and many of those barrels went on to form that inaugural tree, making the bottle a tangible piece of a now annual Lynchburg tradition. Released in limited quantities to select states and presented in a sturdy matte black clamshell box, it was selected for its perfect balance of oak and vanilla character. This is essentially a higher strength, hand selected Jack Daniel's, richer and fuller bodied than the standard Old No. 7, bottled at a robust 100 proof rather than proofed down. The classic charcoal mellowed Tennessee whiskey character shines through with deeper intensity: rich caramel, toasted oak, vanilla, and maple sugar on the nose, a bold palate of dark toffee, baking spice, charred wood, and cinnamon, and a long, warming finish of toasted sugar and classic Tennessee smoothness. As a discontinued vintage from the first year of a sought after series, the 2011 Holiday Select is highly collectible and increasingly hard to find, especially with its original box intact. A standout display bottle and a celebratory pour for the serious Jack Daniel's collector.
