The second release in Johnnie Walker's Cobalt Series of boundary-pushing Blue Label expressions, Ice Chalet was created in 2024 in partnership with Perfect Moment — the luxury alpine lifestyle and skiwear brand beloved on slopes from Aspen to Zermatt. Master Blender Dr. Emma Walker used Met Office weather data to identify casks distilled during Scotland's coldest winters, when the first phase of maturation is slowed and mellowed by extreme cold, allowing more of the distillery character to come through. She then hand-selected the rarest single malts from Scotland's most northerly and highest altitude distilleries — including Brora, Dalwhinnie, Clynelish, and Roseisle (one of the first Blue Label expressions to feature the Roseisle Distillery). One in 10,000 casks met the standard for this blend, and the liquid will not be produced again. The bottle comes encased in a luxury puffer bag — a Perfect Moment collaboration piece that reverses into a wearable crossbody bag. Bottled at 43.2% ABV (86 proof). Nose: Crisp apple, light cinnamon, vanilla fudge, honeycomb, and sultana. Aniseed and spicy herbal notes with a whisper of smoke from Brora in the background. Cool and invigorating — the effect of winter-laid casks is unmistakable.
Palate: Velvety and smooth — spiced apple, blueberry, honey, and creamy vanilla lead. Clove warmth, ginger root, soft wood spice, and plum develop through the mid palate. Salted honey, cacao, and soft malt from Dalwhinnie and Clynelish round everything out.
Finish: Long — a peppery blast of alpine smoke, lingering cinnamon spice, and clean menthol coolness. Genuinely evokes a ski lodge fireside.
