Here we have Suntory’s multi award-winning Japanese single malt from Yamazaki, the oldest whisky distillery in Japan. The single malt was launched in 1992, and around 80% of the liquid is matured in sherry butts, while the remaining whisky spent its years in American and Mizunara oak casks. An absolutely stunning marriage of fruit, oak and smoky notes, it’s really no wonder why it won so many awards!

It has brown colour. The nose is smooth and sweet with dried fruits, dates, raisin, berries, berries jam, coffee, chocolate, old leather, christmas cake, old furniture varnish, oak, spices, grass, wet wood,citrus and tropical fruits notes. The palate is smooth, dry and sweet with dried fruits, spices, chocolate, berries, old furniture varnish, coffee and citrus notes. The finish is long, dry and sweet with spices, oak, chocolate, dried fruits, berries, old furniture varnish, grass and light smoke notes. Yamazaki 18 is a perfectly balanced, smooth and very tasty whisky.

A Pout for More!

Had my first sip of the Yamazaki 18 year old at Martins Restaurant in DC. Needless to say it was very enjoyable. This prompted me to give the 12 Year old a try. The 18 is more concentrated in the flavor profile which of course make sense. it's special and i will purchase the 18 again. The 12 is a little lighter and is also a good one to try.
