1792 Single Barrel is the hand selected expression in the 1792 portfolio from Barton 1792 Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky, the oldest continually operating distillery in the Bourbon Capital of the World, established in 1879 on 196 acres around the legendary Tom Moore Spring. Where the flagship 1792 Small Batch is built from blends of multiple barrels for consistency, this expression goes the opposite direction: each bottle is drawn from one individual barrel hand selected by Master Distiller Danny Kahn from the best aging warehouses, including Warehouse Z perched on the bluff where intense Kentucky heat and humidity drive deeper barrel interaction. Built on Barton's signature high rye mash bill and aged a minimum of eight years in #3.5 char new American oak, the bourbon is brought to bottling proof using water from the Tom Moore Spring and finished at 98.6 proof. Each barrel offers a slightly different flavor profile, preserving the distinct character of one cask in every bottle.

Color: Luscious tawny amber, perfectly clear.
Nose: Inviting caramel and vanilla with toasted oak, layered with a touch of red fruit, baking spice, and the high rye signature of 1792.
Palate: Robust butterscotch and dark caramel up front, balanced by ripe orchard fruit, toffee, brown sugar, and warming rye spice with a rich, oily mouthfeel that drinks bigger than its proof.
Finish: Long and balanced, with lingering caramel sweetness, oak, roasted nuts, and gentle high rye spice.
What does Single Barrel actually mean? A single barrel bourbon is bottled from one individual cask rather than blended from many. This preserves the unique character of that specific barrel, meaning every bottle in a given run shares the same flavor profile, but profiles can vary slightly batch to batch as different barrels are selected. The standard 1792 Single Barrel is the brand's regular bottling of this style, distinct from retailer exclusive store picks.
How is this different from 1792 Small Batch? Small Batch is blended from multiple barrels for consistency at 93.7 proof. Single Barrel comes from one barrel at 98.6 proof, offering a slightly higher strength, richer mouthfeel, and a more distinct, barrel forward flavor profile. Single Barrel is the closest standard 1792 expression to a true craftsman's pour.
How does this compare to other 1792 expressions? Compare against the bolder 1792 Full Proof at 125 proof for barrel entry strength, the Liquor On Broadway 1792 BiB Single Barrel Store Pick at 100 proof, or the 1792 Aged Twelve Years for the age stated benchmark of the line.
