Kentucky Owl Bourbon Batch No. 9 is a barrel proof small batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon released in October 2019 by Master Blender Dixon Dedman, the great great grandson of brand founder Charles Mortimer Dedman. Bottled at 127.6 proof, this is the highest proof Kentucky Owl batch ever produced at the time of release, leading Dedman to call it a bourbon monster in the best way possible. The blend is built from four different distillates drawn from four different mash bills, including a 15 year, two separate lots of 14 year, a 12 year, a 7 year, and a 6 year stock, all married together for a layered profile that bridges age and intensity. Production was strictly limited to 10,314 bottles distributed across 41 US states plus Washington DC, with each individually numbered and signed by Dixon Dedman on the back label. Crafted under the Wise Man's Bourbon banner first established in 1879, Batch 9 is one of the most celebrated chapters in the Kentucky Owl small batch series and is no longer in production. A defining bottle for Kentucky Owl collectors.

Color: Deep mahogany with rich amber highlights.
Nose: Apple, white grape, cinnamon roll, maple candy, vanilla, and rich oak.
Palate: Bold and full bodied with sweet fruit, white grape, creamy cinnamon roll, vanilla, honey, honeysuckle, tea, citrus, and caramel. The blend's older stocks bring concentrated dark caramel and seasoned oak through the mid palate.
Finish: Long and intense with a spicy pepper kick that stretches across the back of the palate, balanced by lingering oak and caramel.
Why did Dixon Dedman call Batch 9 a bourbon monster? At 127.6 proof, Batch 9 was the highest proof Kentucky Owl bourbon batch ever produced at the time of its release. Dedman built the blend from four mash bills with bourbon stocks aged 6, 7, 12, 14, and 15 years for an intense, layered profile he described as the most flavorful liquid ever bottled under the brand.
How rare is Batch 9? Production was strictly limited to 10,314 individually numbered bottles distributed across 41 US states plus DC. Each bottle is signed by Dixon Dedman on the back label, and primary market allocation cleared quickly. Remaining sealed bottles are increasingly difficult to source.
How does Batch 9 compare to other Kentucky Owl bourbon batches? Batch 9 stands out as the highest proof bourbon batch produced under Dixon Dedman's tenure at Kentucky Owl. The wider Confiscated release and the discontinued Last Rye Batch 4 are also key Kentucky Owl bottles for collectors of the brand.
