Dom Pérignon Vintage 2012 is a prestige cuvée Champagne and one of the most iconic names in the world of fine wine. The house is named for Dom Pierre Pérignon, the 17th century Benedictine monk and cellarer of the Abbey of Hautvillers who devoted decades to the pursuit of the best wine in the world, and that quest for harmony remains the guiding philosophy of every release. Crucially, Dom Pérignon is always a vintage Champagne, produced solely from the grapes of a single declared year, and only when the cellar master judges the harvest worthy. The 2012 growing season was a year of paradoxes and challenges, beginning with an aggressive winter and spring frost, hail, and torrential rain, followed by an intensely hot, dry summer that ultimately rescued the harvest and yielded a great vintage. Crafted by Cellar Master Vincent Chaperon, the wine is a blend of 51 percent Pinot Noir and 49 percent Chardonnay and was aged a minimum of around eight years on the lees in the chalk cellars of Champagne, developing remarkable depth before release in 2021. The result is a Champagne of laser like acidity balanced by generosity and concentration, widely acclaimed by critics with scores in the mid to high nineties from Wine Advocate, Wine Spectator, and James Suckling. Bottled at 12.5 percent ABV, it opens with beautiful salinity and a tactile bouquet of white blossoms, apricot, pear, mint, and rhubarb, leading to an electric, energetic palate that builds toward a long, taut finish marked by ginger, toasted notes, and minerality. A benchmark expression for celebration, gifting, and cellaring alike.
