In case your French isn't quite up to speed, "Nectar d'Or" translates to "golden nectar". The nectar under discussion is Sauternes, a white dessert wine from the Bordeaux region. The wine is tremendously sweet, fruity, and has a great deal of acidity which livens up your palate. The Glenmorangie Original has been finished for an additional two years in ex-Sauternes casks to create this bottling.
Nectar d'Or is probably a reference to the golden nectar that was previously held in the casks used to finish the whisky. This is a sauternes finished single malt from the Glenmorangie distillery, a fruity, vinous release from the Highland distillery.
Whisky Advocate-Highlands, Scotland- "Lemonade, icing sugar, vanilla, nougat, and maple on the nose. Progressively sweeter. Rich and seet on the palate, notably fruity, with spicy orange and brittle toffee. Medium length finish, with milk chocolate-coated ginger and lingering toffee."
